Dressing Room Feature, Feasible? Reply to this Post
Reply with Quote

Would it be possible to integrate some sort of "Dressing Room" feature into the general stores of the different towns? Currently the only way to see how something would look an your avatar would be to buy it, or to find someone wearing what you're looking at buying, which isn't always an easy task. Since some players don't play ALL the time (like me) we don't have the scrip and gold to get alot of outfits in different colors.

How about when you are buying something it shows up on your Avatar in the corner? This way I don't have to spend 4 Gold Coins on something I don't like.

Aarrrr!! I heartily Agree!!!

Erhm... I mean...

Yeeeehaw!!! Giddyup on that thar feature!!!

Of course, how far would they go with it?

Just try on one thing at a time? Well that's not too usefull. Trying on multiple things? Well, what about outfits from other towns? Mixing and matching paint with familers with steam outfits (I'm assuming we're getting Steam outfits in Boom town) How far is feasable?

Also, how far do you go with the barbershop? If you can design any look upon demand, then purchasing said look isn't neccisarily as likely. I know I'ld probably fork out the money so everyone could see that I'm Santa Clause (Still about 3000 scrib short of that look, should have it in time for christmas) and others would pay to show off their vast wealth, but just so you can see how cool you look, eh. I can do that any time. I know that, if I hadn't designed my Kick butt santa outfit, I wouldn't have bought Duds if I could tell what they'ld look like before hand.

After having bought a federal yacket and not noticing it was a ruined outfit untill putting it on, I say I agree with a dressing room feature.

Buying something expensive then relaising it's horrible is rather annoying, I would of never gotten the Wolf Mask if I knew it was that ugly!

I think that would be harder. If you replace the General Store Person with you and when you select different clothing items they appeared on your body, then I wouldn't have to waste that 5 gold.

Or Or Or Or! They could like buy them... and they won't like dust or anything.

Still the point is it would be nice to see them on your person without buying them. Refunds would make people running around buying clothes for an hour then returning them. No one would actually buy them for real.

Pay to see ourselves in it? I think we should just be able to see how the avatar will pose in it. Perhaps a mannequin of some sort? But you know, for free.

Yes we could end up trying everything on, then going back and saying, ''I wonder what this one would look like again''. Guys, let's face it women would be always out of money.

Okay, let me try to explain.

They won't do this to the extent that you all want it for the same reason that they won't do it with portraits in YPP. You see how many of you in this thread alone have your character as an avatar? If you could get a high-resolution view of what it would look like with new clothes, there'd be basically no need for buying new clothes anyways. That's why the portrait preview on YPP only shows a very low-res image. Because if it didn't, people could just screenshot the preview.

Sure, there are benefits to buying the actual outfit, just like there are benefits to buying the actual portrait on YPP. But I don't think we're to be seeing any preview beyond a low-res image.

Unfortunately, people haven't said enough Cowboy-type stuff for me to quote yet- get on it.

I almost made this point. ALMOST. And then, when I was typing it, I couldn't come up with any arguments that I couldn't just as easly come up with a counter argument for.

My Avatar for example, is not my Cowpoke in B!H. I'm still saving up cash for it (only another 3k scrip to go!!! I would have it by now if I had waited to buy the gold when the prices dropped!!!!)

How did I get a screen cap of it then? Why, I used the preview feature in the Barber Shop.

If they give us high res in the barber, which costs a lot more so it's less likley for people to buy it, then it doesn't make any sense to give us anything less than High res in the General Store.

But you know what this will do? You can try on an outfit in the general, and can try out your hair in the barber, but you can't do both (for a complete screen-cap) without buying one or the other.

I think that's enough anti-points to prove your fears incorrect.

My 3 cents on this are with everbody else. There should absolutely be a "mirror" pic of what your currently trying or buying. It suck cuz you cant the just of your outfit till its really on. It takes alot to work you way to savig for and outfit...and with choices for new big shots...buying an outfit shold b what you want!

As far as the screen shot arguement...who cares. You cant use it in game...and as far avatar here...i think most of us are just about smart enough to play with a picture program and make any avatar portrait we want for the crappy 150x150 pixel res pic offered here

Imagine would could be done with time and patience!

sorry DUCK...its your thread and you want polka dots
